Our Practice At Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry

At Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry, our team of mental health experts provides you, your child and family with comprehensive education, resources, support, guidance and relief. We take a holistic approach to treatment and believe in understanding and treating you as a whole and unique person and not just a list of symptoms. We offer inclusive mental health services and work with children, teens, adults, couples and families. Whether you’re seeking services for yourself, your child or your relationship, we can help. We provide evaluations, assessments, medication management, therapy and the skilled support and guidance of highly qualified professionals who will work collaboratively with you to custom-create a treatment plan that best addresses and supports your, your child’s or your family’s specific needs and therapy goals. And, our staff works together as a cohesive team to provide you with the best possible care every step of the way.

The Details

You can connect with our office manager to schedule an appointment or discuss questions concerning insurance, billing and general questions about the therapeutic process. We accept many types of insurance, including the employee assistance program (EAP). We can provide you with a receipt if you’re out-of-network and handle all billing and claims submissions. Out-of-network payments or co-pays can be made in cash or check and are due either at the end of each session or on a monthly basis.

If you have further questions or are interested in scheduling an appointment, please contact our office at 847-440-2281. If voice mail is accessed, know that you will receive a returned call within one business day.

During this confidential initial call, our office manager will answer any questions you may have regarding fees, insurance, schedules, expertise, or other clinical questions. They will then ask for basic information regarding your need for therapy, communication styles, and preferences. With your assistance, they will then schedule you with a therapist from Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry who can best meet your therapeutic needs. Typically, initial visits are scheduled within one week of your phone call.

Therapists at Collaborative Counseling and Psychiatry are providers for a variety of health insurance panels. Please review the list of affiliated insurance companies. To verify if a particular therapist is a provider in your plan, call our office manager at 847-440-2281 or call the mental health network number usually provided on the back of your insurance card. Your portion of the cost will vary based on your coinsurance, copay and/or deductible. We also accept clients who do not wish to utilize their insurance benefits.

We will work with you and your schedule so you can come in for an initial appointment quickly. We understand how busy schedules are these days, which is why we are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our staff will work with you to schedule a convenient appointment time. We’re very responsive to our clients’ needs, and our office manager and therapists check their messages on a regular basis.

In the initial session, we’ll have paperwork for you to review and sign, including our cancellation policy, which asks that you cancel any appointment you cannot make at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged our full rate. We also understand that life happens, so an occasional last minute cancellation due to an emergency or sudden illness will not result in a charge. That said, we work hard to be punctual, offer our clients our full attention and deeply respect their time. We ask that our clients reciprocate this commitment.

Therapy sessions generally last 55-60 minutes. An initial psychiatric evaluation will usually take 45- 60 minutes, and subsequent medication management visits last 15-20 minutes.
